A UK-based Security and Facilities Management group is appointing an additional Non-Executive Director with deep security sector expertise to join its Group Board.

The group operates through several specialist businesses, delivering integrated services across security, risk management and facilities management, amongst others. It works with clients across a broad range of sectors, including infrastructure, construction, education, hospitality, and public and private sector environments, with operations nationwide.

This appointment comes at a key point in the organisation’s development, with a strong growth pipeline and ambitions to further strengthen and evolve its security-led offering.

The Role

The Non-Executive Director will work alongside fellow NEDs, the owners, and executive leadership to provide strategic insight, sector knowledge, and constructive challenge.

Responsibilities include:

  • Advising on market opportunities, risks, and emerging trends within the security sector.

  • Supporting business growth, including the introduction of new clients and senior talent.

  • Contributing to the assessment of investment and acquisition opportunities.

  • Introducing and strengthening relationships with clients and relevant industry bodies.

  • Providing guidance on security technology, systems, and best practice.

  • Participating in broader Board discussions covering strategy, governance, performance, and risk.

During the initial six months, the role is expected to involve increased engagement (approximately one day per month) to support early strategic priorities.

About You

You will be an experienced senior leader from the security sector, comfortable operating at Board level and able to combine independent judgement with a collaborative approach.

Essential experience:

  • Senior leadership experience within security and/or close protection services

  • Experience supporting organisations through growth, diversification, or acquisition

  • Ability to challenge constructively and assess risk

  • Proven track record of contributing to new client development

  • Strong understanding of security sector dynamics, standards, and trends

Desirable experience:

  • Previous Non-Executive Director experience

  • Exposure to Facilities Management, including cleaning or front-of-house services

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 12 days per year, with around one day per month during the initial onboarding phase

  • Board meetings are held quarterly, with additional engagement as required
