Security Director - MENA

A leading multinational FCMG organisation is seeking an experienced Security Director to lead the implementation and execution of risk-informed security, crisis management, and business continuity strategies across the MENA region.

The role is responsible for protecting people, assets, operations, and business objectives through the development and delivery of effective security programmes, risk mitigation strategies, crisis management capabilities, investigations, and stakeholder engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Implement market security strategies aligned with broader regional security objectives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks affecting people, assets, and business operations.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with local leadership teams and provide security consultation and advice.
  • Lead and strengthen crisis management and business continuity programmes.
  • Validate crisis management and business continuity plans through training, testing, and audit activities.
  • Monitor geopolitical developments and assess potential impacts on the organisation and its people.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify, assess, evaluate, and monitor security risks and risk indicators.
  • Support the deployment of risk-based security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, alarms, lighting, and other protective measures.
  • Manage security service providers, including guarding services and technical security vendors.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and annual security reviews to identify vulnerabilities and recommend cost-effective improvements.
  • Assess security risks associated with new business activities and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with security, emergency response, law enforcement, intelligence, and regulatory authorities.
  • Manage security-related budgets and capital expenditure plans.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness and training programmes.
  • Provide advice and support before, during, and after security incidents.
  • Support the protection of supply chain operations through risk-based security programmes.
  • Conduct and coordinate investigations relating to fraud, corruption, theft, extortion, product contamination, counterfeit activity, and threats to business interests.
  • Lead the development, succession planning, and professional growth of the security team.
  • Support executive protection requirements when senior leaders travel within the region.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing, inclusive, and professionally capable security function.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Significant demonstrable relevant professional experience.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in law, security management, business continuity, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in senior security leadership roles within complex organisations.
  • Experience influencing senior executive stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within matrix organisations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven experience leading emergency response, crisis management, and business continuity programmes across multiple locations and cultures.

Desirable

  • Professional certifications in business continuity, emergency management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience within FMCG or consumer packaged goods environments.
  • Background in military, intelligence, or law enforcement organisations.
  • Knowledge of:
    • ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management)
    • ISO 28000 (Supply Chain Security Management)
    • ISO 31000 (Risk Management)
  • Experience with:
    • Access Control Systems (ACS)
    • Video Surveillance Systems (VSS)
    • Visitor Management Systems (VMS)
  • Knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing guarding services and security procurement programmes.
  • Experience operating in high-risk environments.
  • Formal investigations training and experience.
  • Executive protection experience.
  • Event security planning and delivery experience.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI, Power Apps, Tableau, and Microsoft 365 applications.
