Lead the Global Fight Against Pharmaceutical Crime

The Pharmaceutical Security Institute (PSI) is the world`s leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to protecting patients by combating pharmaceutical crime. Representing more than 40 of the world`s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, PSI works at the forefront of intelligence sharing, investigations, public policy, law enforcement collaboration and capability building to tackle counterfeit, stolen, diverted and falsified medicines worldwide.

Following the departure of the previous President, PSI is seeking an exceptional executive to lead the organisation into its next phase of development.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of an internationally respected organisation whose work directly impacts patient safety across the globe.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the PSI Board of Directors, you will provide strategic leadership to an international organisation that sits at the intersection of industry, government and law enforcement.

Whilst a strong understanding of pharmaceutical crime, product security or complex investigations is important, the Board is specifically looking for someone who combines subject matter credibility with outstanding executive leadership, commercial judgement and the ability to influence at the highest levels.

The successful individual will lead PSI`s global strategy, develop its people and capabilities, strengthen member engagement, build external partnerships and ensure the organisation continues to evolve as the trusted global authority on pharmaceutical crime. This emphasis on strategic leadership, business acumen and stakeholder influence was repeatedly highlighted by the Board during the search briefing.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

·        Develop and execute PSI`s long-term strategic vision.

·        Lead and inspire an international team across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific.

·        Build trusted relationships with member companies, ensuring PSI continues to deliver measurable value.

·        Represent PSI globally with governments, regulators, law enforcement agencies, international organisations and industry bodies.

·        Drive the continued evolution of PSI`s intelligence capability, including predictive analysis and digital innovation.

·        Lead organisational governance, operational excellence and financial stewardship.

·        Report regularly to the Board of Directors, providing strategic guidance and ensuring effective delivery against agreed priorities.

·        Expand PSI`s external influence through new partnerships and collaborative initiatives across industry and government.

·        Champion a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.

About You

We`re looking for an accomplished executive who can demonstrate:

·        Significant senior leadership experience within pharmaceuticals, life sciences, product security, brand protection, law enforcement, government or a closely related sector.

·        A proven ability to develop organisational strategy and translate vision into delivery.

·        Experience leading international teams and complex stakeholder environments.

·        Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with credibility at Board and executive level.

·        Strong experience working with, or alongside, government agencies, regulators and law enforcement.

·        The ability to build trusted partnerships across both public and private sectors.

·        Commercial awareness, financial management experience and excellent organisational leadership.

·        Experience reporting to Boards and operating within strong governance frameworks.

Importantly, this role is not purely operational. The Board is seeking a leader who can balance investigative credibility with strategic thinking, executive presence, organisational leadership and the ability to shape the future direction of the Institute. Candidates from either the public or private sector will be considered, provided they can demonstrate this balance.

Why Join PSI?

This is one of the most influential leadership roles within the global pharmaceutical security community.

You`ll have the opportunity to:

·        Lead a globally recognised organisation with an exceptional reputation.

·        Influence international policy and enforcement efforts against pharmaceutical crime.

·        Work alongside senior security and product protection leaders from the world`s largest pharmaceutical companies.

·        Build relationships with governments, international organisations and law enforcement agencies worldwide.

·        Drive meaningful improvements that directly contribute to protecting patients around the world.

Location

The role is based in the Washington DC metropolitan area (Alexandria, Virginia), working closely with the HQ team whilst leading colleagues across multiple international regions. Hybrid working is available, with regular domestic and international travel expected.
