Business Continuity Manager
Join the risk management function of a large banking group and help strengthen and develop its Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). This is a hands-on role covering the full BCM lifecycle, with a particular focus on integrating processes into a consistent group-wide framework.
You will work in an evolving environment where the foundations are in place, but there is significant scope to improve governance, processes and ways of working. Success calls for independent judgement, practical delivery and the ability to build relationships and secure cooperation across the organisation, including where change meets resistance.
This is a hybrid position, with 50% of the time expected to be in the office. Relocation may be supported for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
· Implement and further develop the group’s BCMS, working across the full business continuity lifecycle.
· Support the integration of an acquired company by harmonising governance documents, methods, templates, Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), continuity plans and testing arrangements.
· Identify critical business processes and functions, and support Business Continuity Coordinators in carrying out and maintaining BIAs.
· Move existing spreadsheet-based BCM records, BIAs and testing information into the organisation’s central business continuity management platform.
· Maintain emergency planning documentation, including manuals and plans, and prepare reports for senior management and Operational Risk Management.
· Prepare, conduct, facilitate, evaluate and document tests and exercises; undertake self-assessments and audits and drive resulting improvements.
· Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements and support internal and external audits.
· Build an effective network across business functions, information security, risk management and IT.
· Support specialist departments in emergency and crisis management and coordinate with relevant teams. Crisis management ownership and technical IT disaster recovery remain with the respective specialist functions.
Your experience and qualifications
· A degree in a relevant discipline, such as business administration, computer science or risk management, or a comparable qualification with a focus on business continuity, risk management or IT security.
· Several years of relevant BCM experience, with banking experience strongly preferred and the ability to work across the full BCM lifecycle. Relevant professional qualifications or certifications are an advantage.
· Very good knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including DORA, ISO 22301 and BSI 200-4.
· Good knowledge of test scenarios, test cases and test documentation, together with proficiency in standard office applications and business continuity management tools.
· Very good German and English language skills. French language skills would be nice, but aren’t required.
· Willingness to undertake occasional business travel.
How you work
· You work autonomously, translate broad objectives into practical action and take responsibility without needing day-to-day direction.
· You communicate confidently, build a strong internal network and adapt your approach to different stakeholders, influencing constructively even where there is resistance.
· You combine analytical thinking and a systematic approach with curiosity, sound judgement and a focus on solutions.
· You learn unfamiliar topics quickly and explain them clearly to internal stakeholders, working effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
