Head of Investigations - Hungary

Lead the professional and operational management of investigation activities in Hungary, overseeing complex business-relevant investigations, strengthening local investigation capability, and improving the effectiveness and quality of the investigation function.

 

Key Responsibilities

·        Lead investigations into economic crime, fraud, conflicts of interest, theft, invoice manipulation, misconduct, and human security matters.

·        Manage and develop a local investigation team.

·        Provide professional direction while working within both local security reporting lines and group-level investigation standards.

·        Conduct interviews, gather evidence, analyse root causes, and identify systemic risks.

·        Produce clear, structured investigation reports and recommendations in English for senior stakeholders.

·        Drive consequence management, preventive actions, and control improvements.

·        Build strong relationships with local business units, site teams, HR, Legal, authorities, and other stakeholders.

·        Maintain a strong field presence across operational sites, not only working from headquarters.

·        Improve team performance, resolve interpersonal issues where needed, and build a more capable, proactive team.

·        Support the implementation and continuous improvement of investigation processes, tools, and methodologies.

 

 

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an experienced investigation professional with strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the confidence to handle conflict. They should be comfortable operating in the field, engaging with people at all levels, and addressing sensitive or complex matters.

 

Required Experience and Skills

·        Strong investigation experience, ideally in economic crime, fraud, financial crime, corporate investigations, or law enforcement.

·        Background in police/economic crime investigation, internal or external audit, Big Four audit, compliance, or similar fields would be highly relevant.

·        Proven people management experience or clear leadership capability.

·        Ability to lead a small team, improve performance, and manage challenging team dynamics.

·        Strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex findings into business-focused conclusions.

·        Excellent interviewing, communication, influencing, and conflict-management skills.

·        Native-level Hungarian.

·        Proficient English, as reports and senior-level communication are conducted in English.

·        University degree.

·        Confident MS Office user; SAP/ERP knowledge is an advantage.

·        Driving licence and willingness to travel regularly within Hungary.
